Half Marathon

Milwaukee Half Marathon Course Route Map
Sunday, OCT. 15th @ 6:30AM

The race starts on 2nd and Freshwater in the heart of Milwaukee's Walkers Point neighborhood and goes east into the Third Ward before going past the home of the world's largest music festival – the Summerfest Grounds. Right after that is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks – the Milwaukee Art Museum – then a quick jog through Veterans Park along the Lake Michigan lakefront.

The next three miles will take runners north along Milwaukee's spectacular lakefront. This concludes with the toughest hill on the course as Lincoln Memorial Drive winds to an end at Lake Drive. The course then heads south on Lake Drive and jog over a few streets along the bluff overlooking the lake.

Around Mile 7 runners will head west to the heart of Milwaukee's East Side neighborhood where you turn on Brady Street – one of the city's most colorful areas. From there, you will cross the Marsupial Bridge and head down to Commerce Street in the Brewers Hill Neighborhood and through Schlitz Park at Mile 9.

Runners will find their way through downtown on Old World 3rd Street and turn right for a long stretch on Wisconsin Avenue. This portion is slightly uphill and goes from 3rd Street to 16th Street in the heart of the Marquette University campus. The course turns south on 16th Street, goes over the viaduct, and connects with the marathon course at Mile 12 for the home stretch back to the finish line in Reed Street Yards. The route is USATF certified (Certificate # WI17032DM – Effective 10/12/17-12/31/2027).  COURSE MAP Aid Stations

Don't worry, the favorite parts of your favorite race are still here but small improvements were made to enhance your race day experience! Here are some differences:

  • The start and finish line have moved. The 2017 PNC Milwaukee Marathon Half race starts in Walkers Point neighborhood and will tour the Third Ward next. This insures some miles under your belt before running around the beautiful Milwaukee lakefront and our toughest hill on the course: the Lincoln Memorial Drive. We promise the view is worth it and you’re already 5 miles into the race!
